13 Cool Things that I’ve Done in my Life
I guess every so often it’s a good thing to think back at all the cool and exciting things that you’ve done. Especially when you think you’re in a rut. This time of year is good for that.
- Giant road trip with my parents from my hometown in Nebraska to California when I was 11.
- Visited the Redwood Forrest in northern-California. The trees are tremendously big.
- Went to Disneyland when they still had E-Ticket rides.
- I got my parents in trouble for letting me into a casino and playing the slots in Las Vegas.
- I talked my parents into letting me visit a UFO museum on Fisherman’s Warf in San Francisco.
- Took another giant road trip with my parents from Nebraska to Connecticut when I was 12. (I guess I could say that in one year, we drove from coast to coast.)
- Traveled in an old Pullman sleeper car on a train across Nebraska, Wyoming, and into Denver.
- Slept on the floor of a Spanish-style Catholic church in New Mexico, complete with distant coyote song. We tried to learn the Rosary in Spanish.
- Toured a real nuclear sub in London, Connecticut. I used the periscope to find were our car was parked.
- Got married in a wedding chapel in Las Vegas—a double ceremony with my fiancé’s mother and her fiancé.
- Took an Amtrak train to New York to attend the Field Day Festival in 2003. It was cold and wet, Beck fell right before his set and couldn’t perform, the Beastie Boys were not very good, but Radiohead was absolutely awesome.
- Completely booked a trip via the Internet for a vacation to Amsterdam, Brussels, and Paris. My husband spent his birthday in Amsterdam and I spent my 29th birthday in Paris. My goal was to go to Europe before I was 30.
- Bought 2 tickets to see Duran Duran’s reunion tour in 2005. Called up my childhood friend Sandi the Red in Denver to go with me, and she did! I cried when they first appeared on stage.

What an interesting list! I've always wanted to travel on a Pullman sleeper car!
road trips are awesome! You have done some fun things
I totally LOVE a good road trip. Sounds like you've done some fun and interesting things in your life. My husband is/(was, he's on shore duty now) stationed on a nuke sub in New London CT, I still have not taken the tour of the one they have set up for tours, but I've been on his a few times. Kind of fun, but I couldn't live on one like he does half the time. Too dark for me!
Great TT, I played too
Stacie
Always wanted to see Duran Duran in contest, just never had that chance to :( But wow this is interesting list! It must have been a wonderful and fun place. I hope you took pictures of these traveling :)
Happy Thursday Thirteen and I hope you have a great day! Here is Mine! - 13 Blogger I like to Visit
I didn't like Disney World but I was floored by seeing whales up close off the coast of Provincetown. This is a great excercise to remind us how full and fun our lives are going! I rode a train from the Southwest to Virginia. I remember it was long but I can't remember anyting about sleeping. ?? Was it so bad I blocked it out.
Very cool TT! It was great getting to know you!
You wild woman, you! I knew there was a reason I am compelled each week to drop in here!
Aren't the redwoods amazing? I finally, after numerous trips to San Fran, got to see them a year ago.
Keep up the troublemaking. Or the having fun; whichever way you look at it, so long as no laws are broken and no one gets hurt, it's all good.
Nope, better than good.
Your roadtrips sounds like a lot of fun. And #10 is awesome!!
When you get Paris make sure to do the cruise on The Seine at night--and--if you are going to The Louvre..use the gift shop entrance to beat the 3 hour line...My recommendations for Amsterdam not be to your taste-but-Anne Frank's house was one THE single most moving experiences I have had..
Have fun and stay outta "The District"

I can't believe I made your top 13 (okay, it was with the help of Duran Duran, but still!)-that was a great trip and I loved spending time with your family!
